REVIEW: THE BONDI SANDS LIGHT MEDIUM FOAM

Bondi Sands Self Tanning Mousse in Light/Medium

The sun is back!

Here in the gorgeous Australian spring that is! Sorry that we’re stealing it for a while, my sweetfaces from the US. But Fall is still cool – YARH, BOOTS WEATHER! SNOODS! NUTELLA FROM THE JAR! COMFORT FOOD ERRTHANG!

So yes, it’s getting to that time of year when I realise that I didn’t do good on the promise to myself, and I break this EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

Me, heading into Winter:  “Don’t forget, every single day yo, to moisturise all over! Avoid those gross scaly winter legs and you’ll be all glowing and smooth for summer!”

Me, heading into Spring: “Oops.”

So after some major exfoliation and Body Shop Body Butter slathers morning and nightly, the pins have returned to visible in public status.

And that means FAKE TAN TIME!

It seems nowadays that a new tan is popping up every week and being me, gotta try em all baby. I will test and trial different old faves and new-comers throughout the next few months so as to hopefully save you both the hassle AND the money!

Here’s the first cab off the rank:

Bondi Sands is an Australian made product and they are relatively new to the tanning scene. They have different formulas of tan to suit you – lotion, mousse/foam and spray. I am a HUGE mousse/foam fan myself – dries fast, so easy to apply and quick to blend in.

Being a fair skinned baby, I went ahead and purchased myself the Bondi Sands Light Medium Foam.

The BIGGEST plus for me with this is you can wash it off anytime between 1 – 6 hours after application, depending on how deep you want your tan to be.

I washed mine off in the middle of that range, after three and a half hours.  LOVE any tan that has this rapid developing feature, it’s so great for last minute, off-the-cuff summer BBQ’s and events.

Below you can see it freshly applied to just my right leg (left one bare for comparison):

The scent is coconutty awesomeness and just delicious. There is no yucky fake tan smell during or after development which rules, and the colour – well just see for yourself…

Isn’t it amazing?

I LOVE that it is actually light/medium as stated on the bottle – just perfect for every day.

The beautiful light caramel bronze tone suited my skin perfectly – they do have a Dark option in the mousse, lotion and spray but I personally like it subtle. BIG FAN.

I can see this staying up in the top favourite tan spot for a long time – the longevity is far better than most I’ve used in the past and there’s no patchy crocodile fading either, just a gradual nice fade starts after 4 days of wear.

Bondi Sands Light Medium Tanning Foam can be purchased online or in-store at Priceline (RRP $19.99 / 200ml).

Wow, awesome colour! I’ve always been dubious about fake tans because when they’re bad they look hideous. So I’m so pleased to read this review and see how natural it looks! I like the mousse application too, because anything more complicated and id probably make a mess. Thanks so much for the review spunky lady 🙂

      Thankyou lovely girl!

It’s definitely a great one for fairer skinned girls – no scary surprises with this gem! x

I didn’t know about tan mittens, thank you!
When you let it dry, can it touch clothing, furniture etc or do you have to stand in the star jump position for 3 hours???

HAH, you make me laugh! No star-jumps for you luckily – most tans available nowadays are quick to dry. Just wander around in zombie stance sans pantaloons for only about 10 minutes and you’ll be right to put on loose clothing after that and go about your everyday business. If you push it and rush to dress immediately afterwards, you’ll likely end up with streaks absolutely everywhere.

After putting loose clothing on, as a general rule, I just take care not to let any exposed skin touch delicate materials – i.e. my microfibre couch. I just sit my butt closer to the edge of it so my exposed legs don’t rub tan off and stain the couch. If you think you’ll get distracted, forget, and plonk down on the couch – just put an old towel down on there pre-tanning and you’re set.

For $10 or less a pop, those tan mittens are totally affordable and in my opinion, a must-have. Priceline sell a couple of different brands mittens so check them out next time you’re near one! x

I am about to buy some Bondi Sands and I am pretty fair aswell. Do you think it will be a big risk trying the dark foam right away or should I rather stay with buying the light/medium one and if i don’t think it’s enough just reapply?

I don’t know if it is only on the photos but it doesn’t look toooo dark.

    Thanks! 🙂 x

      Hi Susanne!

The Light/Medium IS definitely super subtle in its colour payoff, I would even compare one coat of Light/Medium foam to one coat of general gradual tanners – their newer Gradual Everyday Tanning Milk with one coat has a similar strength in my opinion.

If you are a tanning regular and are used to a “medium” type tan, nothing insanely deep, then Dark won’t be an issue. When I use a tan that I’m apprehensive about, fearful that I will look far too bronzed, I apply two nights before an event so it eases off in intensity a little (say if an event was on Saturday, I would apply it Thursday night).

It can be a pain having to reapply a tan twice that is too pale, but it is the safe route if you want to go with Light/Medium.

If you have ever used regular St Tropez Self Tan mousse or spray, that to me is pretty close in colour to the Bondi Sands Dark. I hope this helped and wasn’t a jumbled mess! 😀 x

I have been trying to find a website to buy this from that ships to the United states, and haven’t found one. Is this product even available to the U.S.?
